The world is in a state of uncertainty and instability. Scripture describes it as
The coming of the Lord to call every believer to be with Him for ever could take place at any moment (1 Thess. 4:16–18). This event is called the “Rapture.”
Today is the day of grace (1 Cor. 1:3).
Scripture describes it as “man’s day” (1 Cor. 4:3—see the margin).
The heavenly side of things is described as
This day is previous to “the Day of the Lord.” It is the same as “the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6) and “the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1Cor. 1:8). Phil. 1:6, 10 and 2:16 turn our thoughts to heaven, where we believers will be during the “tribulation” period on earth.
After this happens, the things which are troubling the world today will get suddenly worse—this period is called the Tribulation (about 7 years.) Awful judgments will be poured on this world, particularly on Israel for what they did to their Messiah, Jesus. Read of it in Joel 2:1–11, Mal. 4:1–5 and Zeph. 1:1–12. Also described in Matt. 24:21, 22. The Tribulation will end when the Lord Jesus appears on the earth (with us) from heaven, to reign over the world for a thousand years, known as the “Millenium.”
will then begin. For those who have rejected Christ as Saviour, this will be a dreadful day. Read Joel 2:1–11; Malachi 4:1–5; Zephaniah 1:14–16; 1 Thess. 5:2, 3 and 2 Pet. 3:10. The correct translation of 2 Thess. 2:2 is “ ... the day of the Lord ... .”
It is the same as “the day of the Lord Jesus” (2 Cor. 1:14). The Lord Jesus will come out of heaven, with all the believers, to reign over the world for 1000 years.
And lastly,
which will be the eternal state (2 Pet. 3:13). “And God will dwell with man” (Rev. 21:3).
