Creative Power.
The English philosopher, Herbert Spencer (1820–1903) was one of three, with Darwin and Huxley, who were responsible for the acceptance of the theory of evolution. His writings covered such subjects as biology, psychology, sociology and ethics.
He spoke of five factors as “the most general forms into which the manifestations of the unknowable are re-divisible.” These five forms are: space, time, matter, motion and force.
The Holy Spirit has given us these five manifestations of God’s creative power in the first two verses of the Bible:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Gen. 1:1, 2
“In the beginning | .......... | time |
God created the heavens | .......... | space |
and the earth.” | .......... | matter |
“And the Spirit of God | .......... | force |
moved ... .” | .......... | motion |
“By faith we understand ... .” Heb.11:3
